Literature Text

I cast my eyes to the senseless bout
Viewing the whole as I see the doubt
Looking past at the senseless squabble
The leader's clarion call that's audible

On some the call rests on blocked ears
The ugly head of ignorance rears
As all of our backs are turned to our past
Our state of mind are with dice cast

With isolation from our illusion
Our vision is blocked from the solution
Only with clarity of realization
Will we see with a sense of lamentation

That we still have time for amends
So that we will retain the bond of friends
This is my first attempt at a sonnet so I hope you all like it. :D

I do like this poem, but I think it has some issues with the meter. Lines 5 and 7 are a hair too long and throw me when I read them. And the 8th line seems awkward in the middle. Other than that, the poem has a solid beat.

The turn doesn't make much sense to me. Why is there "a sense of lamentation" if there is still "time for amends"?
